About the Authors

Suzanne Castle

It’s always a little strange to be writing about yourself in the biographical mundane. But you can Google all the things now, right? So who am I? Probably depends on the day and whether or not I’m in a vineyard, on a stage, at a Disney park, or in my kitchen.

I am so like my last name: CASTLE. Some days walled off and gray. Lonely and musty. Feeling old, sometimes abandoned, like time has moved ahead onto something more sleek, more advanced. They ivy slowly creeping through the cracks of my story: written day-by-day so that some ivy keeps climbing, some remains forcebul to push aside stones, and yet some is dry and getting brittle.

And then other days I am a CASTLE that has life and beauty–that has been crafted through time and colors and pageantries. Often, I am found at table, feasting with the fringed and the forgotten, the faril and fantastical, echoing inside the chamber as the ever-present sacred heart sends sighs into the deepest parts of my soul.

I’m a CASTLE: complicated, confused, chaotic, creative, curious–residing in Texas, speaking where and when I can, stargazing as often as possible and attempting to share joy with the world.

If you are looking for me, try my back porch or the garden first. If I’m not there, I might be at Fido or Las Paletas having a snack and reading or scrawling in my journal. I’ve kept a journal since the fifth grade. A lot has happened since then. I chased a dream to Nashville, and found here a collection of super creative people; wonderful friends who share with me their passions and hopes and art in all forms. It’s a beautiful thing, life in Music City. And on top of all the great songs, there’s Bobbie’s Dairy Dip!

I have a pretty sick affection for Little House on the Prairie. I grew up moving around a lot as a kid, so my definition of home is broad and bilingual—and also rooted in a fantasy of a log cabin with wheat fields shimmering in the distance. I believe that home is where the heart is, but also that you should travel as much as you possibly can! I also believe that if someone can beat you at Scrabble, you should consider marrying them. That was key in my situation, anyway.

I love to sing in the kitchen, and to host dinner parties. I’m hopelessly sentimental. I despise mosquitos and bean sprouts. I love my superfun cover band, Guilty Pleasures, yardsales, making it through airport security with no do-overs, and honest conversation.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee where I work as a songwriter, singer, author, worship designer and freelance touring musician.
